
Drake’s federal lawsuit has taken an interesting turn, with UMG allegedly seeking to subpoena both Drake and Kendrick Lamar to testify.
Spotted on XXL, both parties have issued their lists of people who could potentially be hit with subpoenas to testify in the ongoing case where Drake is accusing UMG of defaming him by pushing K.Dot’s legendary, Grammy Award-winning diss track, “Not Like Us.”
In legal documents obtained by the Hip-Hop publication/website, the legal team for the Canadian rapper who hilariously claimed that “he studied rap battles for a living,” listed 63 individuals and entities whom they believe could provide information related to the case.
Both Kendrick Lamar & Drake Are On Witness Lists
As for who is on the list, XXL reports names like UMG CEO Lucian Grange, among others.
Per XXL:
Drake’s massive list of potential witnesses includes Drake himself, UMG CEO Lucian Grange, Interscope marketing president Steve Berman, Republic Records CEO Monte Lipman, pgLang, Roc Nation, Tidal, TikTok, YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, the NFL and more.
One name list is Kojo Menne Asamoah, who Drake’s team claims used “covert tactics to promote the Defamatory Material.” Drake’s lawyers have been unable to locate Asamoah despite hiring private investigators and trying to serve him at multiple addresses.
As for UMG’s list of potential witnesses, there are nine names on the list, including Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar, as well as the West Coast lyricists’ manager, Anthony Selah. Lamar is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.
