Eem Triplin – “If I Wanted To”

1 hour ago 2

This year, the energetic young Pennsylvania rapper/producer Eem Triplin released his debut album Melody Of A Memory and his Come Undone EP, became a XXL Freshman, and did a Stereogum interview. That's a lot of activity, but the year isn't over yet. Today, Triplin releases a new single called "If I Wanted To."

Eem Triplin co-produced "If I Wanted To" with the Weeknd collaborator Matt Cohn, and it walks a funny line between playful lo-fi immediacy and pop-friendly sleekness. Triplin sing-raps the whole thing in a raspy, melodic squeak, talking about "pull up in a UFO if I wanted to." He sounds like he's having fun. In the video, he throws a chaotic party in what appears to be an office building elevator. Watch it below.

"If I Wanted To" is out now on RCA.
