Effin‘s sophomore album, Daydreams, is here. Spanning 12 tracks, the record highlights his forward-thinking approach to bass music, featuring standout collaborations with NGHTMRE and Tape B. Rooted in nostalgia but aimed squarely at the future, Daydreams captures the essence of everything Effin has learned throughout his life and career.
Among the album’s highlights are the aforementioned collaborations, “Ups and Downs” with Tape B and the title track with NGHTMRE – their first-ever collaboration. Other key tracks include the singles “Bringing Me Down” and “Dreams Come True.” Still, it’s the album as a whole that delivers the most impact, with each track contributing to the overarching story Effin sets out to convey. The rollout’s cohesive artistic theme, brought full circle by the cover art, perfectly complements the sonic narrative.
The album’s namesake is quite literal, with Effin looking to transport the listener into a nostalgia filled daydream. “Going all in on a concept such as daydreaming forced me to completely immerse myself in the theme, a challenge that ended up redefining the Effin sound and imagery for this era,” he said. Over the album’s 43-minute runtime, he leans into vintage bass aesthetics, building a whimsical and reflective soundscape.
“I wanted this album to feel like a whimsical trip down memory lane — a blast from the past,” he added. “Just like a dream, it pulls you in and throws your imagination on a thrill ride.” But Daydreams goes beyond simple nostalgia. It reimagines it, transforming familiar memories into a surreal, cinematic journey.
Throughout his career, Effin has picked up support from bass heavyweights like Zeds Dead, Liquid Stranger, SLANDER and Zomboy. He’s graced some of dance music’s biggest stages including Bonnaroo and Nocturnal Wonderland – and just announced he’ll be performing at Lost Lands for the third time this upcoming September.
