Hailie, 29, is the only biological child that the rapper shares with his ex-wife Kim Scott, and on Friday (April 4), she announced the happy news on Instagram, writing: “happy due date//3 weeks earthside little e”.
The accompanying photos confirms the baby’s name and birth date of March 14. His middle name Marshall pays tribute to his grandfather, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, while some onlookers have noted that his initials could also be read as “EM&M”.
Eminem first shared the news that he was to become a grandfather in the video for his song ‘Temporary’ in October, which was dedicated to his daughter and includes audio of her as a baby. The video includes an emotional montage of moments from throughout their lives, including when Hailie presented Em with a blue jumper with “Grandpa 1” on the back.
She then hands him what appears to be a picture of an ultrasound scan which the rapper appears visibly surprised by before showing it to the camera.
Hailie later confirmed her pregnancy with her husband Evan McClintock in an Instagram post which read: “mom & dad est. 2025.” The couple, who have been dating since 2016, married in May 2024.
Eminem’s daughter said earlier last year she “audibly sobbed” listening to the rapper’s new album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’.
Pointing to the music video for ‘Somebody Save Me’, which is set in an alternate reality where Eminem, who is now 16 years sober, never recovered from his addiction, she said at the time: “Speaking of things I watched this past week, which I guess I’ll say watched, but I refused to watch again – the ‘Somebody Save Me’ music video is out and I did watch the thing. I don’t think I can do it again. I definitely cry every time I hear it at all.”
In a three-star review of ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, NME wrote: “Much more powerful is ‘Temporary’, a genuinely moving ode to his daughter, Hailie, which proves Marshall Mathers can say something that matters when he wants to.
“So, who killed Slim Shady? In bringing him back to the light and showing him up as irrelevant, perhaps Eminem’s done his old pal in for good. OK, we get it – Shady was a shocking character. Now that he’s dead, how about getting some new material?”
