Ethel Cain is back with a new song, “Fuck Me Eyes,” serving as the latest preview of her upcoming album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You.
With kaleidoscopic, nostalgic synths and a signature mid-tempo crawl, “Fuck Me Eyes” functions as a bit of a character study for Cain; she describes a teenage girl who dresses promiscuously, “goes to church straight from the clubs,” and is known around town for being a handful, especially for the boys in the area. Across the six minute track, though, the song’s dynamics grow and Cain eventually graduates to a passionate belt.
In addition to serving as an homage to Kim Carnes’ “Bette Davis Eyes,” Cain describes “Fuck Me Eyes” in a press release as “an ode to the girls who are perfect and have everything, yet carry the reputation of town slut.” “The beautiful blonde who is just lonely and wants to be loved, that all the adults condemn to each other, who ultimately is the girl everyone simultaneously can’t stand and wants to be,” she wrote. “I wrote the beginning of this song five years ago, making it the oldest demo for the record. As the story became more fleshed out, I realized it had a more relevant place on the album than I originally thought.”
Like prior single “Nettles” and Cain’s lauded debut Preacher’s Daughter, “Fuck Me Eyes” also functions within a larger narrative on Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You. “This song represents Ethel’s complicated feelings for the girl she’s convinced has caught her crush’s eye, as well as her 16-year-old thoughts on the matter,” she said. Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You serves as Hayden Anhedönia’s second studio album as Ethel Cain and is set to arrive on August 8th. The album serves as a prequel to Preacher’s Daughter and will be released on Cain’s independent label, Daughters of Cain. She also offered the nearly-90-minute drone recording Perverts back in January, which we named one of the best albums of 2025 so far.
Cain is also set to embark on a major 2025 tour this summer in support of her new album; the North American run kicks off on August 12th in Seattle. See her tour dates below and get tickets here.
