Season three of Euphoria is officially arriving next year, a HBO executive has confirmed.

The psychological teen drama starring Zendaya aired its first season in 2019 and was a massive hit, scoring two Emmy awards for its star and becoming a defining show for young viewers. However, the show has been off the air since the second season finale in February 2022.

The long-awaited third season of the drama reportedly began filming in February. It had been scheduled to begin in late 2023, but was halted due to the Hollywood strikes and the unexpected death of star Angus Cloud.

With the season moving ahead, fans have been anticipating news about its debut, which HBO has thus far not revealed. However, an executive recently shed some light on the situation after last Sunday’s (September 14) Emmy Awards.

The chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, Casey Bloys, spoke to Variety about the network’s raft of hit shows, with the third season of Euphoria one of their most anticipated. When asked when it will air, the executive said: “It’ll be the spring, but we don’t have a date confirmed yet.”

Information has slowly been coming through about the new season, with cast member Sydney Sweeney teasing in May that it will be “more unhinged” than ever. Her co-star Jacob Elordi revealed many of the cast are filming scenes apart, saying of their storylines: “I don’t really know what anyone else is doing. It’s all quite separate.”

In July, HBO announced via the official Euphoria Twitter/X account that Hans Zimmer would be working on the upcoming third season alongside composer-producer Labrinth, who worked on the hit show’s first two seasons.

In other news, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney recently shut down interview questions about her involvement with a controversial jeans ad campaign.
