Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande bring the film adaptation of Wicked to a dramatic close in the sequel, Wicked: For Good.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film adapts the second half of the stage musical, and picks up after Elphaba’s flight west under the sounds of ‘Defying Gravity’.
Along with Erivo and Grande, other returning cast members include Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang.
Wicked: For Good was released in cinemas worldwide on November 21, 2025.
Who composed the soundtrack?
The film’s score is by John Powell and Stephen Schwartz. Powell has worked on over 70 feature films, including 2024’s Wicked, Happy Feet, and the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon, while Schwartz is the composer behind the Wicked stage musical.
A soundtrack album of the score is set to be released on December 5.
What songs are in Wicked: For Good?
The core songs in Wicked: For Good are mostly pulled from the second half of the stage musical, but there are two new additions. Both Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda get an additional solo song written specifically for the film, titled ‘No Place Like Home’ and ‘The Girl In The Bubble’ respectively.
