EXIT Festival has announced that in 2026 it will become a world touring event, and will be making stops in Egypt, India, Malta, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia.
This comes after EXIT said that next year’s edition will not be held at their usual location of Serbia’s Petrovaradin Fortress, following political pressure and a fallout with the Serbian government over its public support of student protests in the country.
The fallout forced the festival into closure and resulted in a complete cut of government funding. EXIT then had to start a public funding campaign in August to raise almost €1.5 million, in order to keep operating.
The newly announced tour will see EXIT create pop-up festivals in Egypt, India, Malta, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia from May to September 2026. It will start with an event in Croatia in May, before heading to Macedonia in June.
In August, it will head to Malta and then, in October, the festival will go to Egypt – where fans can dance in front of the Great Pyramids of Giza. In November, there are currently plans to take EXIT back to Serbia and then over to India.
Dušan Kovačević, founder and CEO of EXIT Festival, said in a press statement: “After 25 years at the Petrovaradin Fortress, EXIT is now spreading its wings to the world. We aim to unite continents through our festivals and carry the spirit of freedom wherever we go.
“For us, music has always been more than entertainment – it’s a powerful force that brings people together and builds bridges between nations and cultures. Our mission is to awaken new generations to believe that a better world is possible, and that it all starts with each one of us.”
In the past, EXIT has had sets from the likes of The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, Paul Kalkbrenner, Fatboy Slim, and Amelie Lens. In recent years, acts included Tom Morello, Carl Cox, Bonobo, Rudimental, John Newman, Black Eyed Peas and Gucci Mane.
In other music festival-related news, the day splits for the 2026 edition of Primavera Sound have been shared. Last month it was confirmed that The Cure, Gorillaz, The xx, Doja Cat and Massive Attack are all set to perform at the Barcelona festival, which is due to return to the Parc del Fòrum between June 4-6 next year.
Elsewhere, Coachella 2026 will be headlined by Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G. Other acts slated to perform include The XX, Nine Inch Noize (Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize), Disclose, Turnstile, Ethel Cain, KATSEYE, The Strokes, Addison Rae, Labrinth, David Byrne, Interpol, Alex G, BIGBANG, Laufey, Iggy Pop, FKA Twigs, Wet Leg, Clipse and more.
