Amazon Prime Video has announced that Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has joined the cast of Fallout for season three.
The live-action take on the beloved video game franchise premiered on Prime Video back in 2024 with a second season following in December 2025. Both seasons are in the Top Five of Prime Video’s most-watched shows.
A third season of Fallout was greenlit ahead of the season two premiere and filming reportedly started earlier this month. According to Deadline, Aaron Paul will be joining the cast while Vault 33 dwellers Annabel O’Hagan (Steph Harper) and Dave Register (Chet) have been promoted to series regulars.
Paul’s role hasn’t been announced yet, but he previously worked with Fallout executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy on the final season of Westworld following his Emmy-award winning turn as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad.
Fallout bosses are eager to get new episodes out as quickly as possible. “I think what’s happened with television, in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season, is kind of an unfortunate trend,” Nolan said recently. According to Aaron Moten, the plan is for Fallout to run for as many as six seasons. A Big Brother-inspired reality show spin-off is also in the works.
The cast recently explained why they don’t play the hit video games the series is based on.
“I forbid myself from playing it at this point. It’s our job to bring a sense of humanity to these three characters,” said self-confessed gamer Moten. ”I felt like the way that I can contribute to this story the most was to be kind of an outside observer and a person that can keep them honest about the story, that isn’t influenced by adhering to the myth of the game,” added Walton Goggins.
Meanwhile Ella Purnell admitted that she tried to play the Fallout games but wasn’t very good at them. “There’s something wrong with my thumbs. I just can’t do it.”
There has been plenty of speculation about remakes of classic Fallout games being released to capitalise on the success of the live-action adaptation but nothing has been confirmed yet. As for new games, Fallout 5 won’t launch until after The Elder Scrolls 6 (which is rumoured to release in 2028) and will be influenced by the Amazon series.
In other news, Grand Theft Auto 6 fans believe pre-orders for the upcoming sequel will finally go live this week, alongside the third trailer.
