After being nominated for 12 trophies, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ended up winning three awards including Game Of The Year while NSFW superhero game Dispatch also picked up a trio of awards (Animation, Audio and Best Supporting Actor for Jeffrey Wright’s Chase).
Atomfall won Best British Game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 picked up the award for Best Narrative and Ghost Of Yotei won Best Music. The ceremony was hosted by gaming content creator Elz The Witch and featured a couple of stunning musical performances.
Mark Choi teamed up with the Sonaria Ensemble for a reworked version of Final Fantasy 10 anthem ‘Suteki Da Ne’ to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary.
The gorgeous take has been praised across social media. “So tingly right now. The piano during the chorus into the string uprising and then her voice came on so strong and confidently clear afterward. Beautiful arrangement. Just wow,” wrote one fan. “This song still fucking hits like a truck every time I hear it,” said another. “I cried,” admitted one fan on X. “I’m glad we made you cry,” replied Choi. “It means that you enjoyed it so much!!”
Streamer and singer/songwriter Talia Mar also performed her new single ‘Lady’ at the BAFTA Games Awards. “‘Lady’ was the first song I wrote after having my daughter! I was reflecting so much about my life as a woman and how differently I hope she experiences certain things, I love this song so much. It’s become so special to me,” she explained in a press release.
Later this year, Square Enix’s ‘Magic, Memories And Melodies’ tour will hit the road, celebrating the music of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Trigger, Legend Of Mana, NieR, Octopath Traveler and more.
