Flamingosis, Diastrata Unveil Collaborative Album, ‘Sunlight Daydream’

**Flamingosis’ seventh studio album, Sunlight Daydream, is a collaborative effort with Diastrata out via Philos Records.**

DIY electronic tastemaker Flamingosis, born Aaron Velasquez in New Jersey, has officially dispatched his seventh studio album, Sunlight Daydream, a joint project alongside frequent collaborator Diastrata. Blending synthwave, funk, and soul-inspired instrumentation, the eight-track project unfolds through psychedelic soundscapes, jazzy chord progressions, and instrumental solos, evoking the feel of a sonic lovechild between Kaytranada and Tame Impala.

Listeners can pinpoint the lo-fi and R&B-inspired nature of the project in the first few moments of “Frentel,” the album’s lead-off single. It’s distinguished by a warm polysynth that precedes an immediately captivating percussion sequence.

The subsequent titles have an array of features in common. At the same time, each individual track evokes a vastly different emotional aura, bolstered by a universal sonic foundation. Fast approaching its hundred-thousandth stream on Spotify, the album’s title track is a vocal-inclusive earworm, emblematic of the pop-infused soul found in each of the project’s eight songs.

Having released five of his six previous albums on his own Kahuna Style imprint, Flamingosis has now made his debut on Philos Records with the release of Sunlight Daydream. Just yesterday, the St. Louis–founded record label — which also issued Diastrata’s debut album, RECESS, in November 2023 — took to Instagram to announce pre-orders for Sunlight Daydream “pressed on 180g translucent 12” 33rpm translucent vinyl,” which will be shipped out in October.

No stranger to being on the road, Flamingosis’ latest CD has arrived smack dab in the middle of his North American Fall Tour 2025. The vintage funk producer kicked off the tour run in mid-August at Sessions Orlando in Florida, and he’s currently got dates spanning through November 29 at Music Box in San Diego.

Looking ahead, Flamingosis will bring his 2025 show to Disclosure-headlined Cascade Equinox Festival this weekend in Redmond, Oregon, and Seven Stars Festival in Arrington, Virginia. He’s also got several upcoming headline show dates, including an October 23 takeover of Los Angeles’ beloved El Rey Theatre.
