Flock of Dimes, the solo project of Wye Oak multi-instrumentalist and producer Jenn Wasner, has announced a new album and a short tour. The Life You Save is out October 10 via Sub Pop. Leading the record is the new song “Long After Midnight,” which comes with an intimate music video directed by Spencer Kelly in which Wasner performs the song on acoustic guitar sitting on a living room floor while movers remove each item around her one by one. Watch it below.

“My previous records, generally, have been a summary of things I had already been through— experiences I had observed and reflected upon, reporting back from some amount of distance. But this record is different,” writes Wasner. “It is an attempt to report from inside of a process that is ongoing and unfinished, from which I will likely never fully emerge as long as I am alive: my struggle within the cycles of addiction and co-dependency... In the end, it is my hope that this record exists as a testament to the depth of my love for those I cannot save, and that it might provide some comfort for anyone who is still learning how to love and live for themselves.”

The Life You Save was produced by Wasner and recorded in both Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Los Angeles, California. The 12-track LP follows Flock of Dimes sophomore studio album Head of Roses from 2021. As for Wasner’s work in Wye Oak, that band’s latest LP was 2023’s Every Day Like the Last.

Flock of Dimes will embark on a headlining tour of the United States at the end of this year. Beginning on November 6 in Philadelphia, Wasner plans to bring The Life You Save songs to life in select cities, including Brooklyn, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. That run ends on December 5 in Los Angeles. Find her complete list of tour dates down below.
