Mammoth marks a pivot towards synth-driven rock and pop for Hibberd, who released her debut album Swirl just last year. “Ache” is the latest preview of the album, following the title track and lead single, "Mammoth". The indie-pop track features vocals from Stevens, as well as Kate Stables and Lonny. “It doesn't matter if everything is made up, it will all still make you ache, like stubbing your toe or waiting for someone at the airport,” says Hibberd.
Mammoth was produced by Ben Lanz (The National, Beirut), and responds to hypermodernity with its own contradictions, centring on ghosts, time, and life in the neighbourhood with various characters across its ten tracks.
Ahead of the album's release, Hibberd will be supporting Beirut for select live dates in Europe, followed by a run of UK shows with Hannah Cohen in August before heading out on her own UK headline tour in November with shows in Bristol, Manchester, and London.
