FOO FIGHTERS Guitarist PAT SMEAR Sidelined With Broken Foot, Replacement Named To Fill In Live

Foo Fighters have announced that guitarist Pat Smear will be temporarily sidelined after suffering a painful injury over the New Year.

In a statement shared by the band, Foo Fighters revealed — tongue firmly in cheek — that Smear rang in the new year in "the classic tradition of rockstars having bizarre gardening accidents," resulting in multiple broken bones in his left foot.

"This means he'll unfortunately be missing a few shows while the multiple broken bones in his foot heal," the band wrote. "We'll miss our beloved Pat as much as you will, but we want him fully healed and back on his feet as soon as possible."

While Smear recovers, Jason Falkner — the acclaimed guitarist known for his work with Beck, St. Vincent, and Jellyfish — will step in to cover guitar duties for the affected dates.

No further details have been shared regarding how long Smear will be out, but the band made it clear that his return will come once he's fully healed. Fans can expect Foo Fighters to continue as scheduled in the meantime, with Falkner filling the role until Smear is ready to rejoin the stage.
