‘Fortnite’ fans are loving the new karaoke mode

Fortnite’s new karaoke mode is proving a hit with fans – check out some of the best and worst performances below.

Fortnite launched rhythm spin-off game Festival at the end of 2023.The new mode let fans play along to a number of ‘Jam Tracks’ using their regular controller or a Guitar Hero-style peripheral. Last year, a new co-op mode was introduced that allowed users to create a virtual band with their mates.

Earlier this month, Epic Games added drum support to Fortnite Festival and the update also let players sing along to the 600 tracks that are included in Festival’s library. Rather than rewarding players for lyrical accuracy, Fortnite Festival’s karaoke mode gives out scores from ‘perfect’ to ‘messy’ based on pitch.

And Fortnite’s new karaoke mode has quickly become a fan-favourite with a number of videos blowing up across social media. Check out some of the best (and worst) below.

Alongside mic and drum support, last week’s update also introduced jazz-pop sensation Laufey as the headline act of Fortnite Festival season 14.

“The fact people can actually sing along to the songs is so cool because in my opinion, there is nothing more soothing than singing,” she told NME. “Whenever I’m down in the dumps, I’ll sing to myself and it’s an instant healer. Singing is very primal. It’s the instrument of your body so I will always champion anything that [encourages] people to sing.”

“It does feel very special [to be involved with Fortnite],” she added. “I woke up to so many people tagging me in videos where they’ve won [matches] playing as me. Fortnite added a Laufey emote a couple of months ago and the response to that was so crazy, I’ve been hoping to do more. But to do it with a concert-inspired experience that’s very true to my world is beyond my dreams.”

In other news, KoRn have returned with ‘Reward The Scars’. Their first new single in four years is a collaboration with Diablo 4 and comes ahead of the Lord Of Hatred expansion which launches next week (April 28).
