Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has unveiled a plan to start a gathering for artists routinely snubbed by mainstream festivals and awards ceremonies. The reveal came on X/Twitter, when Durst replied to a post by rapper Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne’s post read, “It’s truly a humbling experience when events like Coachella & the Grammys come around & like clockwork,I’m uninvited & uninvolved. I appreciate my position or space I hold in ya heart & mind if so bc you’re the humbling experience that’s timeless & 4dat I thk u. Iaintshitwithoutu.”
Durst’s response read, “Let’s start our own experience gathering and our own acknowledgment event to welcome all of the uninvited – i’ve got a couple ideas i’ve been working on for quite some while now – happy to elaborate if ever interested – sending good vibes.”
There is a history of such festival bills in America. The initial wave of nu-metal acts were often left out of bigger festivals, leading to the founding of such tour packages as Korn’s Family Values. Meanwhile, Ozzfest was famously founded by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne after they were told by Lollapalooza organizers that Ozzy was no longer relevant.
Durst already has a history himself with such bills. Bizkit’s own Loserville tour bills over the past few years have highlighted much-maligned artists like Corey Feldman and Riff Raff.
Meanwhile, Lil Wayne has an upcoming US tour with over 30 dates scheduled between late May and mid October. Find tickets here.
