“Fully Authorized” Fleetwood Mac Documentary Coming From Frank Marshall

A new documentary detailing the story of the legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac is in the works at Apple Original Films.

Billed as “fully authorized” by the band and directed by Frank Marshall (who’s previously helmed documentaries for The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, and Carole King and James Taylor), the film will look at both the origins and legacy of Fleetwood Mac. It’s also set to feature conversations with Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, as well as archival interviews with the late Christine McVie and never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage.

“I am fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about,” Marshall said in a statement. “Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to merge their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own tale in real time, which then became legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.”

As of now, there is no set date for the release of the film, nor is there an official title for the project.

Fleetwood Mac’s history is famous for its drama, particularly when it comes to the relationship between Buckingham and Nicks. Just last month, Nicks said that she “dealt with Lindsey for as long as [she] could” and gave him “more than 300 million chances.” She also confirmed that a full-fledged Fleetwood Mac reunion was off the table.

At this time, Nicks is the only member with any live performances on the books: one co-headlining date with Billy Joel at Detroit’s Ford Field on March 29th. Look for deals or sold-out tickets here.
