Inspiration can strike at any moment. For Canadian quartet Gizmo, their latest single "Gift Shop" was born in the place where memories and commerce converge. "Usual tourist hanging around in a gift shop shaped like a circus clown/ Settled away in the past tense rolling on the strip," frontman Julien Kitson sings over guitar distortion and a steady drumbeat. "Gift Shop" announces the Charlottetown group's debut album All Your Worships, out October 2.
Gizmo balance '90s slacker rock with mud-caked power-pop, and "Gift Shop" is a testament to that. The single “came to me after coming home to bleak winter conditions from a visit to Nashville," Kitson said. "The trip gave me sudden inspiration for various reasons and when arriving home 'Gift Shop' poured out of me in a brief amount of time. It is forever known to me as my first sonic attempt at a love letter.”
