Actor Glen Powell called into his own lookalike contest last week – and promised a film cameo to the winner’s family.

Powell appeared via video at the lookalike contest, which was taking place in Austin, Texas on Sunday (November 24) and offered the family of the winner a cameo in his next film.

“Welcome to the Justin Hartley lookalike contest,” Powell joked in at the contest (via PopCrave). “In all seriousness, I have assembled you here today for an important mission. I want to pull off a heist, and we don’t need masks because we all have the same face. It’s the perfect crime! They can’t get all of us because we are one: a criminal Glenterprise.”

Powell wasn’t there in person as he is currently filming Edgar Wright’s The Running Man remake in the UK – but according to Fox 7 Austin, his mother and aunt were there to judge the competition.

He went on to share that his parents make a cameo in all the films he makes and then went on to reveal his prize for the winner.

“You may know that my parents make a cameo in every movie I make,” he began, adding: “but today the winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest wins their parents, or any family member of their choice, a cameo in my next movie,” he said. “I am completely serious. This is a cash-value prize of $6 billion,” he joked.

The Powell lookalike contest is just one of many such similar events happening of late including recent ones involving Jeremy Allen White lookalikes in New York and Chicago plus a Harry Styles event in London earlier this month.

Timothée Chalamet also recently made a surprise appearance at his own lookalike contest too.

The Dune and Wonka star was caught hiding in a face mask and baseball cap in the crowd in Washington Square Park in downtown Manhattan last month.

According to FM104, nearly 900 people had responded to the invite to the competition, with several uploading photographs of their own supposed likeness to the 28-year-old actor. A top prize of $50 (£39) in cash and a trophy was on offer for the winner of the contest.

Meanwhile, Powell personally responded to a report this summer that suggested he has a broader appeal to the public than Ryan Gosling.

An article from The Wrap had quoted an unnamed Hollywood producer who claimed that Powell is the biggest up-and-coming film star, “in the sense that audiences now go to movies to see him”.

It continued that “an actor like Ryan Gosling, whose appeal is mostly limited to female audiences, Glen appeals to both females and males”.

The Top Gun: Maverick star had an acerbic comeback to the report on his X account, referencing Gosling’s signature song from Barbie. “Gosling is a legend,” he wrote. “I’m just Glen.”
