God Of War actor Christopher Judge has responded to reports he’s set to reprise his role of Kratos in a live-action adaptation.
The original God Of War games featured the voice of Terrence C. Carson as the brutal warrior Kratos. However, Christopher Judge took over the role for the rebooted 2018 God Of War and 2022 sequel God Of War: Ragnarok.
Back in 2022, it was confirmed Amazon Prime Video was working on a live-action adaptation of God Of War that took heavy inspiration from the 2018 reboot. According to reports, the show was set to follow retired God Of War Kratos as he heads out to spread his wife’s ashes from the highest peak in the land, alongside his estranged son Atreus. However things don’t go according to plan and Kratos soon has to pick his sword back up.
At the end of last year, it was reported Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM studios were rebooting the adaptation after showrunner Rafe Judkins left the project after completing several scripts. The split was down to a difference in “creative direction”. In March, Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek) confirmed he’s the new showrunner for the God Of War adaptation, with Amazon ordering two seasons of the show.
No further details have been shared yet but there have been plenty of rumours that Christopher Judge is set to reprise his role as Kratos for the adaptation. Taking to social media, he dismissed those reports.
Sharing an image that read “Christopher Judge is in talks to play the live-action Kratos” on X, Judge then asked “I am???” alongside a number of shrugging emojis.
I am??? 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️❤️ https://t.co/STav76RhS1

Judge has hinted several times that he’d love to play Kratos in live-action. In 2022, he co-signed a fan request to have him reprise the role and in 2023, he criticised rumours Dave Bautista was in talks to play the part.
There is currently no release date for Prime Video’s God Of War, with the script still being written. According to Moore, the show will begin filming in 2026 at the earliest. The showrunner has also angered fans by admitting that while he’s “taken a stab” at playing the games, he gave up because modern controllers are too complicated.
In other news, a number of songs from the brilliant Donkey Kong Bananza soundtrack are now available to stream via Nintendo Music.
