Beginning in 2026, the Golden Globes won’t just honor the best in movies, television, and comedy. It’ll celebrate podcasts, too. The annual awards show has introduced a new Best Podcast category, set to debut during the 2026 telecast on Sunday, January 11th.
The category will feature six nominees, chosen from among the 25 most-listened-to podcasts, “that have made a significant impact over the past year, celebrating the creativity and influence of creators worldwide,” according to the Globes.
Going by that criteria, candidates could include shows like The Joe Rogan Experience, Call Her Daddy, SmartLess, The Daily, The Past Weekend with Theo Von, and Good Hang with Amy Poehler. The Globes has promised to share more comprehensive eligibility details in the coming weeks.
Comedian Nikki Glaser will return to host the 2026 Golden Globes, which will air on CBS and Paramount+.
Editor’s Note: Since we’re on the topic of podcasts, allow us to use this opportunity promote some of our own shows, including Long Time No See, The Story Behind the Song, and In Defense of Ska.
