Gone With the Wind Comes to 4K Ultra HD for First Time Ever

In more reasons to “give a damn” about physical media, Gone With the Wind is receiving a new 4K Ultra HD Steelbook release, which marks the first time that the Hollywood epic is available on the high-res format.

Gone With the Wind tells the story of “strong-willed Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara and her love triangle involving the married Ashley Wilkes and wealthy cad Rhett Butler, all set against the backdrop of the Civil War and Reconstruction.” Due out November 3rd, the newly remastered edition features upgraded picture and sound, along with additional special features.

When adjusted for inflation, Gone With the Wind is still the highest-grossing film in domestic box office history. The film won 10 Oscars upon its release, including Hattie McDaniel as the first-ever Black performer for her supporting role as Mammy. The film has been part of the Library of Congress’ esteemed National Film Registry since its inception in 1989.
