Warner Bros. is officially reviving the Gremlins franchise after more than three decades. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav confirmed that Gremlins 3 has been greenlit during the company’s investor call on Thursday. It will be released on November 19th, 2027.
Steven Spielberg is returning to executive produce through his company, Amblin Entertainment, with the original film’s writer, Chris Columbus, set to direct and produce. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will pen the screenplay.
Released in 1984, Gremlins (grab your copy here) centers on Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his adorable pet, Gizmo, a Mogwai. After Billy breaks the special caretaking rules, all chaos breaks loose as Gizmo spawns destructive green monsters that wreak havoc during Christmas. After the original raked in $212 million worldwide, a satirical sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, was released in 1990.
