HAIM have shared their latest single, titled “Everybody’s trying to figure me out.” Following their lamentation on difficult “relationships,” Este, Danielle, and Alana are doubling down on their independence. Listen to the new song below.
While previous single “Relationships” offered an easy, breezy vibe, things have taken a slightly pricklier turn with this new offering. “Renter’s rights, squatter’s rights/ I’ll be the gatekeeper for the rest of the my life/ I don’t want your charity/ Spend the night in the cold if it keeps me free,” Danielle growls in her lower register.
“This next song we will be releasing is my favorite song we’ve written in the last couple years,” Danielle shared via Instagram. “Writing it has gotten me through some hard times, and we felt this might be of some use to get our vibes right for this summer!” The band also posted a Reel teasing the track captioned “single girl summer,” leaving no room for confusion on the energy behind the song.
While the trio hasn’t confirmed a new album yet, there has been plenty of buzz about their next LP in recent months, and this string of singles indicates a confirmation could be on the way soon. In the meantime, the sisters have confirmed for a handful of upcoming live performances and a number of summer festival appearances, including stops at New Orleans Jazz Festival and Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain and Porto, Portugal.
