Hank Bee Announces New EP a sudden hankering: Hear “Corner”

5 hours ago 2

Hank Bee is the musical alias of Liverpool-based, Northumbrian musician Hannah Brown. The other day she released a very good single called "Corner," which announced her forthcoming EP a sudden hankering.

Brown brilliantly shifts the perspective of the single's namesake within the lyrics. For Brown, a corner acts as an edge or maybe a precipice, a space in the periphery both temporally and mentally. "At the corner of the season and the night, I try to adhere/ Let me show you what I have been," she sings over warm guitar strums in the first verse. "In the corner of your eye I saw a flicker of doubt," goes another striking line. Despite its crossroads mentality, "Corner" cozily pulls you in — a hug in a friend-filled pub following the frigid winter walk there. Take a seat, everything is gonna be okay.

"I began writing 'Corner' towards the latter half of 2023," Brown shared about the song. “I remember feeling lost out at sea - my partner was away travelling, a friendship had ended, and I was unsure of what direction my life was heading. The lyric 'at the corner of the season and the night I try to adhere' sort of fell out of me. It’s about that point of transition - being at the corner of something, at a crossroads."
