Hearing a bleep or two isn’t uncommon during an awards show, nor is hearing a political message. During the 2025 Emmy Awards, we got both thanks to Hannah Einbinder’s first acceptance speech for her role as a supporting actress on the HBO Max original series Hacks.
Marking her first Emmy win (having been nominated for all four seasons of Hacks), Einbinder admitted in her speech that she was okay with the idea of winning also being “punk rock.”
She then went on to conclude her remarks with the statement “Go Birds, Fuck ICE, Free Palestine!” For the tiniest bit of context, the Philadelphia Eagles just won today’s football game against the Kansas City Chiefs. “Fuck ICE” was bleeped by the network censors, likely due to the profanity, but that was the only part of her statement that wasn’t audible during the live broadcast.
