Hayley Williams Brings Out Noah Kahan In Nashville, Sets More Shows In LA & NYC

Right now, Paramore leader Hayley Williams is on her first-ever solo tour, and things are happening. At various stops along the way, Williams has brought out surprise guests like Jason Isbell and Stereogum guest-appearance correspondent Rachel Brown. On Saturday night, Williams played the first of a series of hometown gigs at Nashville's legendary Ryman Auditorium, and she used the opportunity to further clown Morgan Wallen, cover her grandfather Rusty Williams, and bring out Snõõper's Blair Trame. On Tuesday, Williams played a third show at the Ryman, and she brought out Noah Kahan at that one.

Right now, Noah Kahan is a big fucking deal. My daughter had a sleepover birthday party this past weekend, and the movie that she and her friends ended up watching was the new Noah Kahan documentary on Netflix. Everytime I walked downstairs, Kahan would be onscreen doing some fucking thing, and one of the girls would be like, "So cuuuuute." So it's cool that Kahan, in the middle of conquering the world, popped up at the Hayley Williams show to sing an acoustic version of his own recent track "Downfall," with Williams adding in some lovely harmonies. Watch a fan video below.

"Downfall" appears on Kahan's new album The Great Divide, which came out on Friday and which is widely expected to debut at #1 next week. If that happens, it'll be Kahan's first Billboard 200 chart-topper. The album is 77 minutes long. On its release date, Kahan addressed the critics who say that that's too long.

Reviewers saying the albums too long shit I don’t think it’s long enough

Then before the album was out for even one full day, Kahan added four extra songs. The deluxe edition clocks in at 96 minutes.

Enough of that! Back to Hayley Williams! On her current tour, she's playing relatively small venues, which has led to a mad scramble for tickets — spots like New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and LA's Wiltern. But it looks like Williams is about to hit bigger rooms in both cities. Yesterday, Williams confirmed a Hollywood Bowl show after the venue posted a social teaser with an "Airplanes" lyric. Now, it looks like a Forest Hills Stadium announcement is imminent.

Also, in her Substack Notes on Sunday, Williams confirmed that she's a fan of Nashville shoegaze trio Total Wife. Hey, us too!
