Dua Lipa has said she is “heartbroken” after being forced to cancel a concert in Indonesia.

The ‘Levitating’ singer was set to perform at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta this evening (November 9), but took to social media to let fans know concerns about the stage set-up led to its cancellation.

“I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform, but I am gutted to share that it has been determined that it is not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging,” she wrote on X/Twitter.

“I was so looking forward to this night, and it truly pains me that we cannot perform for you all, especially after such a long time since my last performance in Jakarta,” she said, adding that refunds would be made at the point of purchase.

“I love you all and truly can’t wait to be back together in the same room with you singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible.”

In a joint statement on Lipa’s website – where you can find more details about refunds for the gig – organisers TEM Presents and PK Entertainment said the cancellation was “due to unforeseen safety and logistical issues”.

They said the team made “diligent efforts to resolve critical production issues related to the stage structure provided by Mata Elang Productions” but it was deemed “not safe for the performance to carry on”.

The news follows a series of onstage incidents, with both Chris Martin and Olivia Rodrigo having fallen through stages recently.

The Coldplay frontman was performing in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and fell through a trap door as he was walking backwards, later joking with the crowd: “Holy shit, that was nearly a YouTube moment.”

The gaffe came less than a month after Rodrigo experienced a similar incident in Melbourne, falling through a hole in the stage before quickly popping back up and quipping: “Oh my God, that was fun! I’m okay! Wow. Sometimes, there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright! Alright, where was I?”

Elsewhere, it’s been revealed that Lipa’s one-off show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, which saw a guest appearance from Elton John, is set to be televised later this year on ITV.

She played the special gig on October 17, performing in the centre of the iconic venue alongside the 43-piece Heritage Orchestra, a 14-strong choir and seven-piece band. No release date has yet been confirmed.
