Heavy Song of the Week: The Armed Dig in with the Pensive Post-Hardcore Workout “Sharp Teeth”

Heavy Song of the Week is a feature on Heavy Consequence breaking down the top metal, punk, and hard rock tracks you need to hear every Friday. This week, No. 1 goes to “Sharp Teeth” by The Armed.

You never know what you’re going to get with The Armed, a byproduct of their massive rotating lineup of members and the collective’s mysterious nature overall.

For example, the latest single “Sharp Teeth” sees the return of Dan Greene, the band’s enigmatic mastermind, and the track is a grinding post-hardcore workout featuring co-vocalist Cara Drolshagen. It sounds like a different band than the one that released the frenzied hardcore ripper “Kingbreaker” weeks ago, although there is a thread of underlying anxiety that’s consistent between the two songs.

Honorable Mentions:

3TEETH – “Civil War”

“Civil War” is one of Guns N’ Roses’ more accomplished compositions and a career highlight. Hearing it rendered through 3TEETH’s crushing brand of industrial rock is truly something. Despite being one of the more surprising covers of 2025 thus far, the treatment works and somehow makes Axl Rose’s lyrics seem more serious and foreboding than they already were, especially in these times.

Amon Amarth – “We Rule the Waves”

Amon Amarth, forever committed to their bit, unleashed another Viking anthem in the form of “We Rule the Waves.” As a sort of follow-up to “Put Your Back into the Oar,” this latest one-off single also has a seafaring theme and a chorus that begs to be chanted in unison during the band’s concerts, with tankards and fists raised skyward: “We are, we are Vikings!”

Biohazard – “F**k the System”

Biohazard are back with a second single from their forthcoming comeback album, and it’s another bruiser with an age-old universal message of political rebellion: “F**k the system!” This is supremely old-school hardcore/thrash of the topshelf variety — as heavy as Biohazard have ever sounded.
