The EP was recorded with producer Alex Greaves at The Nave in Leeds and arrives as pyncher settle into a revitalised pocket of Manchester’s guitar scene, routinely mentioned alongside Westside Cowboy, TTSSFU, and Martial Arts. The band - lead vocalist Sam Blakeley, guitarist Harvey O’Toole, bassist Brittany Dewhurst, and drummer Jack Rainbow - have already picked up airplay on BBC 6 Music and played the station’s Manchester festival earlier this year.
“Oh Boy” finds the group thickening the scuzzy blueprint laid down on their debut EP Every Town Needs a Stranger, released in October 2025. Speaking
about the track, Blakeley says it pulls from illegible
feelings. “This song is about feelings I can’t really explain. I feel
disconnected from people a lot, and it’s about the cyclical patterns
that can come from being unable to communicate properly.”
The
announcement also brings new live dates. pyncher will mark the release
with a show at London’s Shacklewell Arms on 19 June, then head out on a
UK and European tour supporting The Sophs before festival stops
including Rotterdam’s Left of the Dial in October.
