Ibibio Sound Machine announce upcoming album, Chopping Mountain

Chopping Mountain follows the band's 2024 album Pull the Rope, and their 2025 EP, Anyone Like You. "Concept of Love" follows previous single "Return to Sender. Speaking about the process of making the track, vocalist Eno Williams explains that it “went through many different stages and ended up with a soulful, electronic Afro-disco feel. What you give out into the world is what you receive back, it's beautiful to be loved."

Chopping Mountain was mainly recorded at the band's own Vanguard Studios in South London, and is produced by saxophonist and co-founder Max Grunhard — the first Ibibio Sound Machine album that he has produced since 2019’s Doko Mien. The new album is described as an expansive though deeply rooted collection of songs, which combine the textures of West African highlife with post-punk, Afrobeat, soul and electronic music.
