Jack Black will reprise his role as the character Officer Dick in the upcoming skateboarding video game remake, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, which is set for release on July 11th.
According to Variety, the actor will not only return as the high school security guard from 2020’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, but he will also play Dick’s twin from the UK, Constable Richard.
“Richard Ennvee was mocked by other skaters and called a ‘poser,'” reads the official description of Black’s character. “Overtaken by the need for revenge, Dick vowed to one day become what those skaters feared most — the long arm of the law!”
In an interview with Variety, game director Kurt Tillmanns said the developers wanted to “tell a little bit more of the Officer Dick story” from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, where Black’s character would “yell at the skater and try and run them off the grounds.”
“We’re thinking, this is an interesting evolution of Officer Dick’s midlife crisis of hating the skater,” he continued. “In the last one, he’s just on this high school ground, and trying to yell at the skaters, control the skaters. And now he’s evolved, as his power trip has gone into becoming the campus security sheriff of a college.”
Pre-orders for both the collector’s and standard editions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 are ongoing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X and One.
In other Jack Black news, he recently broke a Billboard record for the shortest Hot 100 hit with “Steve’s Lava Chicken.” The 34-second track appears in A Minecraft Movie, which he stars in alongside Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Hansen.
