Jack Kaye announces debut solo EP, Go Easy

Go Easy arrives six years after Kaye last released music as part of the indie rock band The Magic Gang. His debut single "Dora", which dropped in May, offered the first taster of Kaye's solo chapter, with "The Weight" reflecting the life changes he faced just as the band called it quits.

"There were lots of big life changes that happened for me around the same time," Kaye says of the inspiration behind the single. "The end of the band kind of signalled that, and the wave of real, adult life knocked me back a bit. It’s about coming to terms with the responsibility of real life; earning a living outside of the band, starting a family… I was also thinking about my Dad, and the ways I want to be like him as a parent, and the things I’d like to do differently. So that’s in there as well"

The EP combines Kaye's own pop sensibilities with influences ranging from The Replacements to Dr Dog. Kaye invited former bandmates Angus Taylor and Paeris Giles and new collaborators Asya Fairchild and George Boorman to play on the recordings to add more depth to Kaye's storytelling, as he faces the reality of romance, self-confrontation, and accepting responsibility.
