Jaws Special Screening Planned for Martha’s Vineyard… In the Water

Jaws is already one of the scariest movies ever made — but the community of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts has figured out a way to make it even scarier. On July 11th, a special screening of the Steven Spielberg classic will take place on Owen Park Beach in Vineyard Haven, where the movie was originally filmed in 1974. And those who show up early enough will even be able to watch from the actual water.

Per the site Travel Pirates, the screening is happening in partnership with Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, and takes place during peak season for Martha’s Vineyard. Currently, the only tickets still available for the event are the $256.00 VIP passes: At the “Bruce’s Great White Lounge” level, you get early VIP admission and reserved seating, catered food, beer, and wine options, a Discovery Channel Shark Week inflatable tube, a blanket, sunscreen, and “other curated treats and giveaways.”

This isn’t the first aquatic screening of Jaws in recent memory — in 2025, Alamo Drafthouse put on a Jaws on the Water event where people not only watched the film while floating in a lake, but perhaps got spooked by scuba divers lurking below the surface. Austin residents will be able to experience the terror again this summer, as another screening is planned for July 18th.

Check out where Jaws ranks on Consequence‘s list of every Steven Spielberg movie. If you can’t make it out to Massachusetts or Texas, a 50th anniversary 4K release of the movie came out last year.
