The international Rap beef we never asked for continues. Joyner Lucas has responded to Skepta’s diss song with “Nobody Cares.”
As reported by Complex, Joyner Lucas is not ducking any smoke. On Tuesday (July 15), he released a new song titled “Nobody Cares,” which is a direct response to Skepta. In it he sends fire right back and questions the London MC’s relevance. “Nobody cares you was that ni**a back in the days / You only popping in the UK, but we don’t play your sh*t in the States,” he says. Lucas double downs on his theory with additional bars that put Skepta’s career under the microscope. “Maybe you’re mad because you ain’t got buzz up in the UK no more / I heard your career just ain’t what it was and you don’t get paid no more / If you want a feature, n***a, just say it, but you gotta pay me for it / And after I body you I don’t want you ever saying my name anymore.”
Somehow Drake caught some shrapnel in the process, as Joyner Lucas alleges that Skepta’s association is the only thing he has going for him. “Nobody cares how many women that you played/ Or how many bullets that you sprayed or who bringing you out on stage,” he said before adding, “nobody cares about how you and Drizzy are close / Or how you invented UK Rap, but still ain’t top 10 on your Coast.” Earlier this month, Skepta took to social media and expressed his thoughts on the difference between American rappers and rappers from the UK. Joyner Lucas joined the conversation and responded, “The moment I’ve been waiting for… say the word, Joyner Lucas vs @Skepta. #UKvsUS.” Skepta would debut “Friendly Fire,” a diss song aimed at Lucas, while performing during Drake’s set at the Wireless Festival.
