A representative for Justin Bieber has issued a statement denying that he was a victim of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The statement follows the start of Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial in Manhattan earlier this week and addresses recent online speculation stemming from resurfaced videos and comments from Bieber’s younger years that some fans online took as signs that something inappropriate might have happened between the two.
Now, though, Bieber’s rep has told TMZ that “Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims,” adding, “there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by [Combs]. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”
TMZ also reported that “multiple sources in Justin’s life” denied that any form of abuse occurred, with some also downplaying the concerning content in the aforementioned videos. As they explained it, moments like when Combs told a camera that he and a 15-year-old Bieber were “gonna go buck full crazy” for “48 hours” in 2009 — or when he said on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in 2011 that Bieber “knows better than to be talking about things that he does with Big Brother Puff on national television” — were nothing more than “performative” media appearances.
The sources said that Bieber was actually closer with Combs’ sons, Quincy and Justin, than with Combs himself.
Posecutors in Manhattan opened Combs’ trial this week by detailing allegations that spanned two decades — including ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s alleged account of violent assault and forced humiliation — and previewed additional witnesses, as the defense conceded that domestic violence occurred but maintained that all encounters were consensual.
As for Bieber, he has been laying relatively low since splitting with his longtime manager Scooter Braun in 2023, but is reportedly eyeing a comeback (despite rumors that he’s struggling with drugs).
