The newest additions to the festival line-up include composer, musician, and producer Kara-Lis Coverdale, electronic DJ and producer Poirier, Austrian electronic DJ and producer Zora Jones, Berlin-based electronic musicians Ah! Kosmos and Hainbach, experimental duo CUERPOS, avant-garde artist Debit, percussionist Julian Sartorius, dancefloor duo Jump Source, and Stockholm-based composer and organist Kali Malone.
MUTEK will bring artists, audiences and digital culture communities from around the world into the Quartier des spectacles for six days and six nights of live electronic music, audiovisual performance, immersive works and open-air gatherings.
The programming for the festival's 27th edition is focused on exploring the way each space can shape the work presented inside it, and will feature nearly 120 artists from 28 countries across 18 programmes. It will be split into five series: Nocturne Series at Society for Arts and Technology, X/Visions Series at Maison symphonique, Métropolis Series at MTELUS, Play Series at Les Grands Ballets’ Studio-Theatre, and Experience Series at Esplanade Tranquille. Previously announced artists that will be hosted throughout the week include A Guy Named Gerald, gyrofield, Hot Sleepers, Mia Koden, and more.
Speaking about this year's edition, Alain Mongeau, executive co-director and artistic director of MUTEK, says, “The only time MUTEK has taken over the Maison symphonique was back in 2013, during a memorable evening featuring Nils Frahm and Pantha du Prince & The Bell Laboratory. It is a moment that still resonates with festivalgoers and with our team. Returning to this exceptional venue, while opening a new chapter at Les Grands Ballets with the Play series, reflects our commitment to expanding the MUTEK experience and the ways audiences can encounter it."
