Katie Alice Greer – “Expo ’70”

2 days ago 7

Katie Alice Greer, former frontperson for the DC punk band Priests, re-emerged last fall after a couple years out of the spotlight. In September, the now LA-based musician released "Talk To Leslie," a dreamy pop song with the kind of downtempo electronic beat I'd expect to hear on a late '90s chillout track. She's got another new single today that seems to be part of the same project.

The packshot for Greer's new track "Expo '70" features graphic design similar to what we saw on "Talk To Leslie," and the song taps into a similar liminal space. This time the drums are live and loose, and the melodies remind me of late '60s West Coast psych-pop. The vibe is sort of like if Cindy Lee snapped into focus. "I know nothing so I'm going to the expo," Greer sings. "Teach me what I don't know, don't know/ Should I be living with my eyed closed?"

According to the credits posted on Bandcamp, Greer worked closely with producer Meg Searl on the track, and Gleb Wilson handled the drums and bass. Listen below.
