Kesha has thrown a subtle dig at Katy Perry after fast food chain Wendy’s made a joke about sending her back to space.
Perry embarked on the first all-female space mission in six decades yesterday (April 14), organised by Jeff Bezos. During their voyage, Perry sang Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ and revealed the setlist for her upcoming ‘Lifetimes’ tour.
She was later seen holding a daisy to the sky and kissing the ground upon returning from space. Her trip has sparked memes and controversy and she has also garnered criticism from other celebrities for taking the space flight, with actress Olivia Munn branding Perry “gluttonous” and Emily Ratajkowski saying she was similarly “disgusted” by the space flight.
Fast food chain Wendy’s also chipped in with a jokey comment on X after Perry was announced as returning from space. “Can we send back her back,” they wrote.

The singer and Perry have had a strained relationship due to Kesha’s decade-long legal battle with Dr Luke – who she accused of emotional abuse and sexual assault.
Perry has frequently collaborated with the producer on some of her biggest hits, including ‘I Kissed A Girl’, ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Dark Horse’.
After Kesha sued him, the producer denied the allegations and countersued the artist, claiming she had breached the recording contract they had with one another and made up rape allegations in an attempt to get out of the deal.
Perry did get brought into proceedings when Kesha alleged that Perry was also a victim of abuse at the hands of Dr Luke. Perry strongly denied this and a judge later ruled that Kesha had defamed Dr Luke by suggesting as much.
In 2018, Perry said that she “felt pressured” to support Kesha. She also revealed that she felt like “Luke was using me as a pawn” to assert his innocence, and that she was “annoyed” with both parties. Dr Luke was not involved in making her 2017 album ‘Witness’, which she added was because she didn’t want to feel like she was “picking a side”.
Kesha and Dr Luke’s legal battle came to an end in the summer of 2023 with the pair settling just one month before it was supposed to go to trial. Kesha has maintained her original claims against Dr. Luke.
Last year, Perry announced her single ‘Woman’s World’ which fans noticed that Dr Luke was listed as a co-producer and Rolling Stone confirmed that he was indeed involved in creating the song, citing a source at Capitol Records.
Kesha tweeted “lol” as the news came out, which was assumed to be a response to Perry collaborating with Dr Luke again.
Perry then responded to a backlash she received for working with Dr Luke again. “I understand that it started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. The reality is, it comes from me,” she responded before adding: “I am speaking from my own experience. The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that.”
