Kid Rock kicked off his “Freedom 250 Tour” with a pre-recorded showing him flying in US Army Apache helicopters with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
In the video, which you can see below, Kid Rock lands at a military base in his private jet and is greeted by Hegseth. “Mr. Secretary, what are you doing here?” Rock asks. “I’m going to your show,” Hegseth declares, before offering to give the musician a ride in an Apache. What follows is roughly 60 seconds of action footage featuring Rock and Hegseth in the choppers, along with several close-ups of Hegseth’s tattoos, for some reason.
Hegseth had teased the video in the day’s leading up to the tour’s launch after posting photos of the two together on social media. “Joined my friend @KidRock — and some of our great @USArmy Apache pilots — for a ride this morning. (More to come on that!) Kid Rock is a patriot and huge supporter of our troops. The War Department is wasting no time celebrating America’s 250th — home of the free because of the brave,” he wrote.
Kid Rock also teased the collaboration in a video posted to social media, saying that his tour is “all about celebrating America, 250 years of freedom… and I may be coming to each show in an Apache helicopter, which should send far-left liberals into complete breakdown in tears.”
Kid Rock’s joyride comes after the US Army investigated and briefly suspended an aircrew who flew Apache helicopters next to his Nashville home in March. Hegseth ultimately interceded and lifted their suspensions. It also comes as a time when hundreds of thousands of soldiers, sailors, and airmen are currently in the Middle East as part of Donald Trump’s war with Iran.
Rock’s “Freedom 250 Tour” launched Friday night in Dallas and runs through mid-June. Some credit where credit is due: the musician is giving 250 members of the military up to four tickets each to his upcoming shows through VetTix.org.
