Kim Gordon and Kim Deal were both musical guests on the second episode of John Mulaney’s new live talk show Everybody’s Live on Wednesday night.
Gordon kicked things off with “Bye Bye,” the lead single off her 2024 album The Collective that we deemed as one of the best songs of 2025. Deal then took the stage to perform “Nobody Loves You More,” the title track off her debut solo album that arrived last fall.
Then, the two Kims and bassist extraordinaries took the stage together to perform Sonic Youth’s 1995 song “Little Trouble Girl,” which Deal originally featured on. Introduced as “The Kims,” Mulaney boasted that the performance was Gordon and Deal’s “first time performing together, anywhere.” Watch clips of all three performance below.
Gordon and Deal, now known for their solo work in addition to their respective bands Sonic Youth, The Breeders, and Pixies, had collaborated just once for Sonic Youth’s 1995 album Washing Machine and (as Mulaney assured) never performed live together. They did, however, link up for an Interview Magazine chat in December where the pair discussed their 2024 solo albums, their attitudes toward writing and recording, and their storied careers.
Elsewhere on Episode 2 of Netflix’s Everybody’s Live were appearances from Ben Stiller, Quinta Brunson, Nick Kroll, and cruise industry expert Anne Kalosh. Revisit our review of Episode 1, in which we deemed the show to be “the best money Netflix has spent in years.”
