Laufey returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night, presenting her new single “Tough Luck.” Catch the replay below.
Performing on a carpeted set complete with four massive dice, Laufey provides a faithful, spirited rendition of “Tough Luck.” As always with the 26-year-old Icelandic singer, front-and-center is her warm, expressive voice, which ranges from a jazzy coo in the song’s early modes to a cathartic belt in the track’s final chorus.
“Tough Luck” is a preview of her upcoming album A Matter of Time, which is set for release on August 22nd via Vingolf Recordings and AWAL (pre-order here). Laufey produced the record with Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner, the former whom she collaborated heavily with on her first two albums.
Laufey has a handful of North American shows coming up this spring and summer (get tickets here).
Her sophomore album, Bewitched, was released in 2023, and received a Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
