GS5 joins forces with Lee Foss on In The Ghetto, a two-track release that helps mark the 15 year annniversary of beloved label Hot Creations.
Past meets future as established DJ and producer Lee Foss makes a long-awaited return by collaborating with up-and-coming artist, GS5, on Hot Creations‘ latest two-track project, In The Ghetto. Listeners can take this as a gift from the two artists, as the iconic imprint is turning 15 years old.
Out now, the two-track release In The Ghetto marks the first tunes that Lee Foss, the label’s co-founder alongside Jamie Jones, has dropped on the imprint in five years, and serves as a powerful link between the label’s roots and the new wave of house music voices. “It’s always exciting to come back to the label that started it all for me,” he said about his return.
“‘In The Ghetto’ feels like the perfect release to return with,” Lee Foss continued, “GS5 is an exciting new artist from Denver who reached out with some cool demos and was interested in collaborating, and I knew as soon as we got to work that these would be perfect for HC.”
The lead track, “In The Ghetto,” comes loaded with a bass-driven groove and hypnotic vocal loops. On the flip, “Hardest” delivers a darker, tougher-edged sound, layered with sharp percussion and warped vocals built for those hazy after-hours moments. Between Less Foss’s pioneering history and GS5’s fast-rising reputation on labels such as Hoot Politics and Material Series, In The Ghetto stands as both a milestone for the two artists and a bridge between generations.
“With Hot Natured being some of my earliest introductions to electronic music, this release means the world to me” GS5 shared. “Being given the opportunity to work with one of my biggest inspirations––is a dream come true.”
