Leon Bridges Announces New Album Happiness Anytime, Releases Four-Song EP: Stream

Leon Bridges announced his new album, Happiness Anytime. As a preview, he has put out an EP of four songs that will be part of the album. Stream it below.

Happiness Anytime will be released September 25th via Columbia Records. Bridges drafted J Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto of British neo-soul trio Jungle to helm production of the album. Bridges came together with the members of Jungle after crossing paths at festivals, according to a press release. In a four-day writing session, the team came out with six songs that make up half the album. Bridges and company hit Chaplin Recording Studio in Los Angeles with bassist Pino Palladion, who has played with D’Angelo, Adele and John Mayer, to complete the record. The album promises to be “a timeless, effortless body of work — nothing fussy or over-intellectualized” that “will surely make the listener feel happiness, anytime they play it.” Fans can pre-order the album here.

“I want this album to be something that lingers with people and lingers in people’s bones,” Bridges said in a statement. “There’s this feeling that we have to fix the problems of the world; you feel inadequate or it can be debilitating. My role is to be light. I hope that comes across with this album.”

The previewing EP includes the tracks “Light the Way,” “Tears of Joy,” “Illusion,” and “Your Love Is Electric.” Their joyful and international sound, drawing from Fela Kuti, Paul Simon and Bobby McFerrin, live up to the album’s title.

The latest studio album by Bridges, a Grammy winner, was 2024’s Leon.
