The White Lotus star Leslie Bibb has spoken about her fears of getting diarrhoea during the show’s water fight scene.

The scene in question from season three episode four saw Bibb and her co-stars Carrie Coon and Michelle Monaghan get soaked by water pistol toting children celebrating the Thai New Year.

“When we were there, [the festival] actually happened in real time and everyone’s like, ‘Let’s go!'” Bibb recalled on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “And I was like, ‘No, I want to experience’ – I was Daniel Day Lewis–ing it – I was like, ‘I’m gonna experience it for real between action and cut.’

“We got there and it was like 300 extras, all with water guns, and it was a nightmare. I looked over and our crew members had [water guns], and they were just shooting at us, and I was like, ‘This is a nightmare.'”

Bibb then said she started getting concerned about the water they were using on set. The travel community are urged to avoid consuming tap water and instead opt for bottled or filtered options when visiting Thailand.

“I was like, ‘Where is this water coming [from]?’ Because it’s not the cleanest water in Thailand,” she said.

“I’d be like, ‘Is that bottled?’ They’re like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, we’re all getting diarrhoea. We’re all getting diarrhoea. This is all going nowhere.'”

Despite her fears, she confirmed that they never came to fruition.

Elsewhere, Bibb previously revealed how she helped her real-life partner Sam Rockwell prepare for his guest spot on an episode of the recent series.

The White Lotus will be back for a fourth season, with one of the key talking points being where it will be located. After Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, Deadline reported that it had been mentioned by HBO executives that Europe is a likely destination. Mike White, creator and director of the series has been very vocal about his dislike for the cold and his desire to hit every continent with the show, so Australia or Morocco have also been mooted as possible destinations.

What is for sure is that Emmy-winning composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer won’t be along for the ride. The man behind one of the most unlikely floor-fillers has stepped away from the show, citing his frequent “hysterical” battles with producers over the music for the show.
