Levitation 2025 Lineup: Mastodon, Pavement, Acid Bath, and TV on the Radio

The annual Austin festival Levitation has unveiled its initial 2025 lineup, and it’s a very cool one headlined by Mastodon, Pavement, Acid Bath, and TV on the Radio.

The 18th edition of the festival is set for the weekend of September 25th-28th, this time in a new location: the Palmer Events Center — a 75,000 square foot, two-stage complex located on the shores of Town Lake overlooking the Austin skyline. And in classic Levitation fashion, there will also be late-night shows taking place across venues in Downtown Austin.

Three-day passes and single-day tickets are available via Levitation’s website, with late-show tickets available separately.

Metal fans will at least want a ticket to Friday’s action, as its headlined by Mastodon and Acid Bath and features an all-heavy bill featuring reunited ATX stoner-metal heroes The Sword, Denver death metal stars Blood Incantation, Detroit ensemble The Armed, and more.

Saturday is more indie-leaning with TV on the Radio and Unknown Mortal Orchestra leading a bill of Brian Jonestown Massacre, Blonde Redhead, Wednesday, La Femme, The Raveonettes, and Swervedriver, among others.

Pavement headline Sunday’s festivities along with fellow indie legends Built to Spill and Destroyer. The rest of the bands could have been on one of the old pre-Levitation, Austin Psych Fest bills: The Black Angels, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, A Place to Bury Strangers, etc.

Meanwhile, the night show lineup is also pretty stacked, with performances by Boy Harsher, Sudan Archives, Pup and Jeff Rosenstock, The Dandy Warhols, Suicide’s Martin Rev, Drugdealer, and many more across the weekend. In addition, there’s Wednesday (September 24th) kickoff shows featuring Beach Fossils, Mdou Moctar, and others.

As for the new venue, festival co-founder and director Rob Fitzpatrick said that the Palmer Events Center finally solves the dilemma of bringing a multi-stage experience back to Levitation.

“The venue offers a huge upgrade in production overall with endless possibilities for the visual experience, and great amenities — air conditioning, nice bathrooms, ample parking, a giant shaded outdoor courtyard, along with the production infrastructure needed for a world-class show,” he said in a press release. “All of that in a beautiful park in the heart of the city, and the proximity to downtown means we’re still able to host shows in our Red River venues; these clubs are the heart and soul of our music scene in Austin and it wouldn’t be Levitation without them. We’re very excited to create something remarkable and built to last in this new home for the festival, and we can’t wait to experience this lineup with everyone in September.”
