Liam Gallagher joins Oasis rehearsals: “Sounded fucking filthy”

Liam Gallagher has joined rehearsals for the upcoming Oasis reunion tour.

The band are set to play their first gigs together in 16 years this summer, kicking off with a run of UK and Ireland dates with Richard Ashcroft and Cast, including seven dates at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Last month, Noel and the rumoured live band lineup – which was previously revealed to NME by a source close to the showswere photographed entering a London studio where they reportedly rehearsed for six hours

The line-up included Beady Eye alumnus and longtime collaborator Gem Archer, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, keyboardist Mikey Rowe, and bassist Andy Bell, who also confirmed he would be returning to the fold. Joe Waronker – believed to be one of the “new faces” that Liam teased back in September – is also rumoured to be joining the tour, but wasn’t photographed.

However, fans noticed that Liam was not seen entering the studio, and it was later reported that he was on holiday in the south of France, resting ahead of the mammoth world tour.

Now, though, it appears that Liam has joined rehearsals. The frontman shared the news on Twitter/X earlier today (June 3), writing: “We have LIFT OFF Rastas sounded fucking FILTHY I’ll tell thee that there for hardly anything LG x

Then, responding to a fan who asked if it was “emotional” playing with everyone for the first time in 16 years, Liam wrote: “No time to get emotional we have a lot of catching up to do.” To another, who asked if he was nervous, he responded: “Dont be ridiculous”.

He also added that rehearsing as Oasis again was “Spiritual”, and responded to another fan asking if they sounded amazing, saying “cmon”.

It is believed that the brothers don’t want to be seen together until July 4, when they kick off their UK tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

They were previously spotted working together back in April after being photographed arriving at a working men’s club in London’s Newington Green, in what was reportedly a filming session for an upcoming Adidas campaign.

Liam also recently responded to reports that organisers for the world tour had taken measures to keep the formerly estranged brothers separated while backstage.

In other news, Liam recently cast doubt over claims from the band’s manager that Oasis have no intentions of sharing any new material.

Manager Alec McKinlay made headlines when he dismissed any hopes of new material from the Britpop icons and said they had no intention of announcing any more tour dates either. “This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” he said. “It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to. And no, there’s no plan for any new music.”

Responding to one fan on X/Twitter who said it didn’t feel “very biblical” for McKinlay to dismiss all future plans, the singer responded: “Neither do I and the only people that will be making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID so let’s just take it one day at a time.”

Later, the frontman doubled down on his stance, telling another fan who thought “there must be a degree of truth” to the manager’s comments that McKinley is “the accountant” for the band.

Then, when pressed further by another fan to directly say if the manager was lying, Gallagher caused further confusion when he made the tongue-in-cheek response: “Am I?”

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones also recently revealed to NME that Noel has been back writing new material in the studio. “I’m assuming he’s doing some writing for either his stuff or if they’re [Oasis] gonna bring out a couple songs, I don’t know,” he said.

In other news, in the run-up to the dates, the band have partnered with Amazon to launch new merch that pays homage to the iconic moments throughout their career.
