Lily Allen has said that she has noticed her music having a “resurgence” online, with more young people becoming fans.

The singer and actor discussed the topic during a recent episode of her Miss Me? podcast with Miquita Oliver, and said that her early discography is starting to reach a new audience.

“I do find it hard listening to that music. I’m not ashamed of it because I think it was good for what it was at the time. And actually I think it does still stand up,” she began. “It’s having an actual resurgence on the internet. I know because my royalty payments are going up. There are young kids that are into my music now.”

She also added she has been keeping an eye on “the new wave of interest through streaming data”.

The singer shared four albums between 2006 and 2018, which included hit singles like ‘The Fear’, ‘Not Fair’, ‘LDN’ and ‘Smile’.

At the start of 2025, she took to the podcast to share an update about new material and said that she was trying to “manifest” a new record being completed by the end of the year.

“Firstly, I’m going to go and get my head straight for a bit. I’m doing a little bit of work on myself in this beginning period of the year, then I’m going to do some more writing, then I’m going to do my play [Hedda Gabler],” she said. “Hopefully, maybe get an album out by the end of the year. That would be nice, wouldn’t it?”

“It’s not real, I’m just trying to manifest it now,” she added. “Listen, I’ve got this. We’re bringing Lily Allen back in 2025.”

A new LP from Allen would mark her first since 2018’s ‘No Shame‘.

Hints at the start of the year follow comments from Allen that she had been working on new material in Nashville, Tennessee in 2024, and hints at the start of that year that she had already written around 50 songs for a potential new album.

Elsewhere in the latest episode of Miss Me?, Allen shared that she had been using music as a type of therapy following her split from Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

“Music is the one place where I can let it all go. It’s almost like therapy. I like to write and record at the same time with somebody else in the room – there’s something therapeutic about it,” she said. “My producer or my co-writers become almost like therapists because I’m processing the things that I’m going through in real-time.”

“I can do that in music, but I can’t really do it when I’m talking to friends or my parents. It doesn’t mean I’m being inauthentic, I just don’t feel like I can sum things up properly,” she added. “But I can do it in a three-and-a-half minute pop song.”

The singer-songwriter took a temporary break from Miss Me? and other work commitments to focus on her mental health during the time of the separation. “I’m really not in a good place,” she told the co-host during a podcast episode earlier this year. “I know I’ve been talking about it for months, but I’ve been spiralling and spiralling and spiralling, and it’s got out of control.”
