Roughly a quarter century after its release, Limp Bizkit’s classic single “Break Stuff” has topped the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs chart following the tragic passing of bassist Sam Rivers on October 18th.
Rivers died of an apparent cardiac arrest at the young age of 48, leading to a significant streaming boost of Limp Bizkit’s music catalog. Most notably, “Break Stuff” earned 3.7 million official US streams in the most recent chart week (October 18th-24th), as well as increased radio play and sales, placing it at No. 1 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs tally. Other songs like “Rollin'” (2.5 million streams), and “My Way” (1.9 million streams) also saw sizable gains.
Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst paid tribute to Rivers in an emotional video post on social media. As of now, the band still plans to embark on its upcoming Latin American tour, set to kick off in late November.
