Phoenix have unveiled their original demo of ‘Too Young’ from their celebrated debut album, ‘United’ – check it out below.

Last week (June 8), the band celebrated the 25th anniversary of ‘United’, and announced a series of new merch drops in honour of the milestone. Yesterday (June 10), Phoenix shared a surprise demo-drop, in which they shared the demo recording of ‘Too Young’ for the first time.

The posted an image of a green demo cassette tape, on which they scribbled the words “too young” on Instagram, backed by audio of the original recording. They wrote in their caption: “We found this stock of used Yogurt commercial cassettes in the dumpster of a marketing company in Versailles and would re-record our demos over thin. Here is the ‘Too Young’ demo.

The band also reflected on the song being used for Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation, starring Bill Murray: “She discovered our music with ‘Honeymoon’ which is her favourite.”

Phoenix have also announced several new merch drops to celebrate the ‘Unite’ album’s 25th anniversary, including a new ‘Too Young’ t-shirt that’s now available for pre-order. A different t-shirt featuring the original ‘Unite’ cover art is also available.

Last week, the band also announced the launch of original ‘Unite’ posters, featuring the signatures of every member of Phoenix. It is limited to just 100 copies.

Phoenix’s latest album, ‘Alpha Zulu’, was released in November 2022. That record scored a four-star review, with Thomas Smith writing for NME: “‘Alpha Zulu’ refuses to stand on ceremony with their surroundings; they appreciate the scale, but never abandon their character. It’s like wandering the halls of the band’s own personal gallery, a stroll through time, and a chance to see some of their most glistening pieces yet up close.”

In 2023, they teamed up with Beck to release the collaborative single ‘Odyssey’ ahead of their co-headline ‘Summer Odyssey’ tour across North America that year. In September last year, they co-released a new version of ‘Nightcall’ with Kavinsky and Angèle after performing the track together at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
